1 = Code of Conduct 2 3 NOTE: As of Feb 2023, "`RESPONSE TEAM`" and "`LEADERSHIP TEAM`" in the text 4 that follows both refer to me, Daniel Barlow, as the project leader. 5 6 Liminix is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for 7 everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. 8 9 This code of conduct applies to all Liminix spaces, including the IRC 10 channel, mailing lists, and other forums, both online and off. Anyone 11 who violates this code of conduct may be sanctioned or expelled from 12 these spaces at the discretion of the RESPONSE TEAM. 13 14 Some Liminix spaces may have additional rules in place, which will be 15 made clearly available to participants. Participants are responsible for 16 knowing and abiding by these rules. 17 18 Harassment includes: 19 20 * Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, 21 sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, 22 physical appearance, body size, age, race, or religion. 23 * Unwelcome comments regarding a person’s lifestyle choices and 24 practices, including those related to food, health, parenting, drugs, 25 and employment. 26 * Deliberate misgendering or use of '`dead`' or rejected names. 27 * Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behaviour in spaces where 28 they’re not appropriate. 29 * Physical contact and simulated physical contact (eg, textual 30 descriptions like "`__hug__`" or "`__backrub__`") without consent or 31 after a request to stop. 32 * Threats of violence. 33 * Incitement of violence towards any individual, including encouraging a 34 person to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm. 35 * Deliberate intimidation. 36 * Stalking or following. 37 * Harassing photography or recording, including logging online activity 38 for harassment purposes. 39 * Sustained disruption of discussion. 40 * Unwelcome sexual attention. 41 * Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/assuming 42 inappropriate levels of intimacy with others 43 * Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease. 44 * Deliberate "`outing`" of any aspect of a person’s identity without 45 their consent except as necessary to protect vulnerable people from 46 intentional abuse. 47 * Publication of non-harassing private communication. 48 49 Liminix prioritizes marginalized people’s safety over privileged 50 people’s comfort. RESPONSE TEAM reserves the right not to act on 51 complaints regarding: 52 53 * '`Reverse`' -isms, including '`reverse racism,`' '`reverse sexism,`' 54 and '`cisphobia`' 55 * Reasonable communication of boundaries, such as "`leave me alone,`" 56 "`go away,`" or "`I’m not discussing this with you.`" 57 * Communicating in a '`tone`' you don’t find congenial 58 * Criticizing racist, sexist, cissexist, or otherwise oppressive 59 behavior or assumptions 60 61 == Reporting 62 63 If you are being harassed by a member of Liminix, notice that someone 64 else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact the 65 RESPONSE TEAM at [email address or other contact point]. If the person 66 who is harassing you is on the team, they will recuse themselves from 67 handling your incident. We will respond as promptly as we can. 68 69 This code of conduct applies to Liminix spaces, but if you are being 70 harassed by a member of Liminix outside our spaces, we still want to 71 know about it. We will take all good-faith reports of harassment by 72 Liminix members, especially LEADERSHIP TEAM, seriously. This includes 73 harassment outside our spaces and harassment that took place at any 74 point in time. The abuse team reserves the right to exclude people from 75 Liminix based on their past behavior, including behavior outside Liminix 76 spaces and behavior towards people who are not in Liminix. 77 78 In order to protect volunteers from abuse and burnout, we reserve the 79 right to reject any report we believe to have been made in bad faith. 80 Reports intended to silence legitimate criticism may be deleted without 81 response. 82 83 We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting 84 victims of abuse. At our discretion, we may publicly name a person about 85 whom we’ve received harassment complaints, or privately warn third 86 parties about them, if we believe that doing so will increase the safety 87 of Liminix members or the general public. We will not name harassment 88 victims without their affirmative consent. 89 90 == Consequences 91 92 Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply 93 immediately. 94 95 If a participant engages in harassing behavior, RESPONSE TEAM may take 96 any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from all 97 Liminix spaces and identification of the participant as a harasser to 98 other Liminix members or the general public. 99 100 == License and attribution 101 102 The policy is based on the Geek Feminism 103 https://geekfeminism.fandom.com/wiki/Community_anti-harassment/Policy[Community 104 anti-harassment/Policy] and is the work of Annalee Flower Horne with 105 assistance from Valerie Aurora, Alex Skud Bayley, Tim Chevalier, and 106 Mary Gardiner.
